West Ham United’s Tim Steidten claims that he has received no contact from Liverpool despite rumours surrounding a move Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp stunned Liverpool fans in January, announcing that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

The German has been in charge for more than eight years but has now decided to take a break from football with an emotional exit on the horizon.

As if that wasn’t enough, Liverpool will also see Klopp’s coaching staff leave and even sporting director Jorg Schmadtke is moving on.

Liverpool confirmed that Schmadtke’s short stay at Anfield would come to an end once the January window as done and dusted having arrived last summer.

Schmadtke made a big impact by signing the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch, but he has gone and Liverpool are left looking for another transfer chief.

Michael Edwards, Julian Ward, now Schmadtke; Liverpool have gone through a number of sporting directors in a short space of time.

The Reds will be hoping for some stability with their next appointment and one Premier League options has been linked.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported late in January that West Ham United’s Tim Steidten is on Liverpool’s wish list.

The Daily Mail added that West Ham were braced or an approach and they also claimed that Steidten would find it difficult to say no to the Reds.

Steidten has now spoken to the aforementioned Plettenberg about the Liverpool rumours, admitting that he has heard the speculation and find it to be an honour as Liverpool are ‘one of the biggest clubs in the world’.

Steidten claims that he hasn’t received any contact yet though and he is already planning West Ham’s summer business, so he isn’t focused on Liverpool right now.

“I’ve heard that I am supposed to be on the list at Liverpool. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so it’s an honour. But so far nobody from LFC has contacted me yet,” said Steidten.

“I generally feel very comfortable at West Ham. I quickly realised how intense this league is. Accordingly, we signed the right players in the last transfer windows. The squad is strong, so we can achieve our goals. I am looking forward facing the next weeks and months until the end of the season. Of course we are already planing the next window. What happens to the future, we will see,” he added.

Steidten’s history at Bayer Leverkusen is interesting as he was at the club around the time of Xabi Alonso’s arrival; the Spaniard is now being heavily linked with Liverpool.

Maybe the Reds will fancy going with Steidten and Alonso as the dream ticket moving forward but it sounds like the West Ham man hasn’t been approached just yet.

HITC Football understands that Steidten is hopeful of having the power to pick West Ham’s new manager.

If the West Ham hierarchy decide to keep David Moyes then Steidten may well look to move on despite only joining the Hammers in 2023.
