Tonight’s game between England and Croatia could have a significant impact on Domagoj Vida’s market value.
The Turkish Super Lig side rejected that offer, as they believe they can get a fair bit more for the player, especially since he has impressed at the World Cup with Croatia. Other Premier League clubs such as West Ham, Everton and Fulham are all said to be interested.
And then there’s the small occasion of Wednesday night when Croatia take on England, where every move he makes will be cross-examined.
Should Vida put in a solid performance then his value could potentially shoot up, since he will be taking to the field against players he would be facing week in week in out in the Premier League. That could price the likes of West Ham and Fulham out of a move.
Vida has performed to a very high level alongside Dejan Lovren for Croatia, and could well make things difficult for Harry Kane and co in Moscow.
That said, should Vida struggle in his audition against English opposition, it could force clubs to think twice about shelling out a lot of money on him. A poor display could see interest and his market value and drop, allowing the likes of Fulham to steal in.
Besiktas are in a strong position though, as the 29-year-old still has four years remaining on his current deal with, so more than likely, even an average performance against the Three Lions could still see teams bidding fairly high for him this summer.
