Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear has been quoted by Keith Downie in his pre-match programme notes ahead of a 1-1 draw with Everton as saying Newcastle’s bid for left-footed Jack Harrison was enough for his right leg.
Leeds pegged back Everton to draw 1-1 on Tuesday night, as Luis Sinisterra cancelled out Anthony Gordon’s opener. It sees Jesse Marsch’s side win an eighth point from their fifth game. A solid start from the Yorkshire side despite injuries.
Harrison, 25, has made a breathtaking start to the season. Although quiet on Tuesday night, the left-footed winger has been in excellent form. He has already produced four goal involvements, scoring once and laying on three assists.
Newcastle have shown interest, and have tabled bids. But Kinnear said in his pre-match programme notes, as quoted by Sky Sports reporter Downie, that Newcastle’s offer for left-footed Harrison was enough to buy only his right leg.

“We have rebuffed numerous offers for players…including one that, based on its value, was only for Jack Harrison’s right leg,” Kinnear wrote in his programme notes, as quoted by Downie on the Sky Sports reporter’s Twitter account.
Leeds CEO Kinnear: Newcastle’s bid for Harrison enough for his right leg
It is a bit of humour from Kinnear, but also a signal of intent. Leeds are not going to be pushovers when it comes to their best players. More importantly, they are desperate to keep their next-best talents after losing two this summer.
Selling Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha was necessary. The club had not brought in any cash in terms of outgoings since promotion. They needed to sell before buying and initial fees totalling £90million has seen Leeds bring in eight faces.
The likes of Tyler Adams, Marc Roca, Sinisterra, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen have all started well. So, for Harrison, it looks as if he will be staying for the 2022-23 season. His deal ends in 2024, and Leeds will look to extend it.
