Nottingham Forest’s season has been anything but quiet, and it is still early days in the 2025/26 campaign.

The summer saw a wave of new faces arrive at the City Ground as Evangelos Marinakis pushed to strengthen the squad and build depth across the board.

Nuno Espirito Santo fell out with Edu and left his role after nearly two years in charge. Ange Postecoglou stepped in as his replacement.

And while Postecoglou is now leading Forest, Nuno might not be waiting long before he finds a new role.

Nuno Espirito Santo has reportedly emerged as a candidate to replace Graham Potter at West Ham, according to Alan Nixon on his Patreon page.

Potter’s side had just beaten Forest 3-0 before the break in what turned out to be Espirito Santo’s final game in charge. But even with that result, there are still doubts about how much longer he will stay.

And after yesterday’s 3-0 loss to Spurs, those questions around his future are only going to get louder.

Espirito Santo will not want to stay out of work for long. He finished seventh with Forest last season, so he is still viewed quite positively around the league.

Evangelos Marinakis made the right call dismissing Nuno Espirito Santo

Given Espírito Santo’s public declaration that his relationship with Marinakis had fractured, his departure seemed inevitable.

Forest’s owner wasted little time, moving swiftly to bring in Postecoglou. It is hard to argue against that decision after everything that happened between them.

Marinakis had put significant resources into strengthening the squad, so Espirito Santo’s remarks came across as unappreciative, at least from the outside looking in.

The focus now shifts to Postecoglou. Forest need to set aside any lingering admiration for what Espirito Santo did and fully support their new manager if they want to turn things around.

If he ends up taking over at West Ham, you can bet he will be eager to show Marinakis that letting him go was a mistake.
