Aston Villa are interested in signing Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to The Independent.

It has been reported that Villa are preparing a bid of £10 million to sign the Argentine goalkeeper from Premier League rivals Arsenal this summer.

However, according to the report, the Gunners could want as much as £20 million to sell the 27-year-old this summer.

Good signing for Aston Villa?

According to The Independent, Tom Heaton is still recovering from a knee injury that he suffered in January, while Pepe Reina has left Villa after his loan spell.

Martinez is a very good goalkeeper who showed in the final weeks of last season what he is capable of, as he successfully replaced the then-injured Bernd Leno in the starting lineup.

The Argentine – described as “commanding” by Arsenal legend Ian Wright on The Kelly and Wrighty Show (Optus Sport, July 26, 2020) (click here to read more) – would be a very capable goalkeeper for Dean Smith’s side.

Good move for Emiliano Martinez?

If Leno retains his place in the Arsenal starting lineup next season after recovering fully, then Martinez should seriously consider a move to Villa, if he gets the chance to play regularly for the Villans.
