Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser believes he is getting back to his best amid speculation linking the Scotland international with both Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, while speaking to talkSPORT (20 May, 12.30pm).
This time last year, Fraser was putting the finishing touches to a campaign in which he established himself as one of the most dangerous and influential attackers in English football.
Only Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard produced more assists than the Scot’s 14 in 2019/20, with a further seven goals contributed from out wide.
The former Aberdeen starlet would be the first to admit, however, that he hasn’t quite been the same jet-heeled force of nature in recent months.
Fraser’s form has reflected that of his club in many ways – underwhelming and well short below expectations. But, with an assist against Chelsea and arguably his best display of the campaign against Sheffield United, things are finally looking up for a man who apparently has his heart set on joining Jose Mourino’s Spurs (Mirror).
“I think even when I’m playing at my best there is always going to be striving to be better. My first half of the season wasn’t good enough and there’s a lot of reasons why,” confesses Fraser, a brutally honest and reflective character.
“But the last month and a half I’m back to where I want to be and I’m creating a lot more. I just feel a lot better within myself and my head’s probably in the right place now.”
Fraser might want to join Tottenham but whether Mourinho will make his dream come true is another matter.
The Express reports that the two-time Champions League winning manager is far from convinced, potentially opening the door for London neighbours Crystal Palace to swoop in with Fraser’s contract due to expire in July.
