Alan Shearer says Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane could beat his Premier League record.
Premier League goalscoring record holder Alan Shearer sat down for an interview with FourFourTwo, and discussed whether or not he believes that his record will ever be broken.
Shearer, who played for both Blackburn Roves and Newcastle United during the Premier League era, scored 260 top flight goals – 66 ahead of second placed Wayne Rooney.

And the former England international striker spoke to FourFourTwo about his impressive tally, but singled out one player in particular who could eventually surpass his record:
“I thought Wayne Rooney would manage or would come near to making it, but he seems to be moving further away, and now plays a more retracted role at Manchester United. Harry Kane has made a stunning start to his career in the Premier League. If he avoids injury and continues his career here rather than trying his luck abroad, he will have the opportunity. Sergio Agüero also plays for a strong team. But I think that the same question can be applied to him. Will he stay for the rest of his career in the Premier League?”

Kane has currently scored 56 Premier League goals, a full 204 behind Shearer.
Were he to play for another 10 years, by which time he would be 33, he would need to average just over 20 goals per season to reach the former Newcastle man’s landmark.
It is by no means beyond the realms of possibility, but the consistency and durability required to play for that long, and at that kind of level, must not be underestimated.
But the key deciding factor in Kane having any chance whatsoever, will be whether or not he remains in England for the entirety of his career.
