Patrick Vieira is understood to have impressed Leeds United during talks to become their new manager this summer.
Daniel Farke has clinched the Leeds United job but Patrick Vieira is thought to have impressed the club’s decision makers.
That is according to a report from The Athletic, who claim that Vieira made a ‘good impression’ during talks with the Whites.
Vieira was seeking a new opportunity having lost his job as Crystal Palace boss back in March.
The Frenchman interviewed for the Leeds job this summer having been on the club’s radar after sacking Jesse Marsch.
The Athletic claimed that Vieira wanted the Leeds job after Marsch’s exit and he was under consideration this summer.
Vieira is understood to have impressed the new Leeds hierarchy but he didn’t quite do enough to land the job.
Leeds instead decided to go with Daniel Farke as their new boss, picking the German as the man to lead them out of the Championship.

Patrick Vieira lands another job amid Leeds United snub
It’s not all bad news for Vieira though.
The Arsenal legend has landed a job elsewhere having been appointed as the new Strasbourg boss.
Strasbourg have been taken over by Todd Boehly and co as the Chelsea ownership explore French football.
Appointing a new manager was a top priority after the departure of Frederic Antonetti and Boehly has gone for Vieira.

Now given a chance to rebuild his managerial reputation again, Vieira will lead Strasbourg’s new era.
Rumour surrounding Vieira’s move to Strasbourg emerged last weekend, which seemed to give a clear indication that Farke was heading to Elland Road.
Vieira and Farke were seemingly the two key names in the frame for Leeds so once Vieira was out of the running, fans were confident that it was Farke.
Leeds seemingly valued Farke’s history of winning promotion from the Championship over the huge name value of Vieira, and big things will expected from the German this coming season.
