Premier League icon Michu has predicted Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland to one day leave the Premier League for La Liga, with the forward previously being linked to FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Speaking to AS, the former Swansea City striker has tipped the Norweigian attacker to move to Spain in the future, with Michu one of Haaland’s inspirations growing up as the Spaniard tore apart the Premier League for the Welsh side in the 2012/13 season.
Haaland continues to defy expectations in the English top-flight with City, with the striker breaking even more records on the weekend as the Manchester side swept aside Manchester United 6-3 in one of the Premier League’s most entertaining games so far this season.
Whilst Haaland’s City career has only just begun, there’s a growing expectation that the 22-year-old won’t stick around at the Etihad Stadium for long. And for Michu, the Premier League cult hero has already tipped the youngster to move to Spain, with the striker’s future seemingly heading to La Liga for one of the two giants.
Michu said: “He is going to mark an era in world football. He can be at the top for 13-15 seasons. He will score more than 300 goals, which is a huge amount. Haaland likes Spain. He spends his summers in our country. He will probably end up playing in La Liga. And that’s great for us too.”
Haaland moving to La Liga feels inevitable even with link to City
Haaland’s success at City could be viewed in an even better light when you realise that the attacker grew up supporting the Manchester side during his childhood. Yet even with this face, there’s a feeling in the air that the striker will one day move to Spain regardless of how many records or trophies the striker earns.
After all, in football, all great players seem to end up at Madrid or Barcelona, and with both clubs having world-class yet ageing strikers in Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski, Haaland moving to La Liga feels like a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ at this stage of the attacker’s career.
