AFC Bournemouth are reportedly interested in signing Bristol City talent Antoine Semenyo, who is believed to also be on Celtic and Rangers’ radar ahead of the January transfer window.
According to the Sunday Mirror (print edition – 18/12 pg. 68), the Cherries are plotting a swoop for the Ghana international next month, with establishing himself in the last few months with the Robins as one of the most exciting talents in the Championship.
A member of Ghana’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Semenyo’s stats this season haven’t been too impressive with the 22-year-old only bagging four goals and two assists in all competitions. However, the forward himself is still highly regarded amongst those in the game.
And according to Bristol Live, Celtic and Rangers have been keeping tabs on the centre-forward for quite some time, with Semenyo’s contract expiring in the summer meaning that the forward is free to talk to clubs in January about signing a pre-contract agreement.

However, Bournemouth now look ready to pull the trigger on a deal to bring Semenyo to the British south coast as early as next month, with Gary O’Neil keen to bring in homegrown players to the Cherries squad as well as plan for the future.
Indeed, Semenyo would be perfect for a club like Celtic and Rangers, but Bournemouth’s new stance on signing the youngster could be a massive blow for the Scottish giants, who could now miss out on the Ghana international in January.
Bournemouth signing Semenyo will sting for Celtic & Rangers

Semenyo individual numbers might not be eye-opening for many this season, yet there’s no denying that there’s a quality player in there waiting to be developed by the right club, and for Celtic and Rangers, that team could well be Bournemouth.
After all, the Cherries have never been afraid to play young players in the Premier League, and for Semenyo, the opportunity to play with England’s elite will be an offer too good to turn down if Bournemouth come knocking in the January transfer window.
