Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton, December 26

Tottenham Hotspur appear to have got over their so-called Wembley problem, and given that Southampton are not exactly a great side, Mauricio Pochettino’s team should be able to pick up all three points in their Boxing Day fixture. Spurs, though, need to be careful not to concede the first goal and must also tighten up at the back in the final 10 minutes.

Swansea City v Tottenham Hotspur, January 2

Swansea City are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, and their performances so far this campaign have been dire. The Swans do not have a great squad, and even at the Liberty Stadium, the Welsh outfit will not be expected to do much against Spurs.

One suspects that the Swans will be happy with a point against Tottenham, who must surely consider this game as ‘three points in the bag’. It is hard to see anything but a comprehensive win for the North London outfit.

Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United, January 4

This is a London derby, and in a derby, the form book goes out of the window and anything is possible. West Ham United have shown some encouraging signings under manager David Moyes, and the way they pushed Manchester City hard recently suggests that they can step up in big matches.

The Hammers will fancy their chances of picking up at least a point against Spurs, and one should not be surprised if they are able to do just that in the London derby.

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 West Ham United
