As we enter the second month of the season Liverpool continue to be one of the biggest enigmas in all of football as they prepare for the rest of September.

Coming off the back of a dominating 4-1 victory over champions Leicester, you would think that Liverpool fans would be brimming with confidence ahead of their next few fixtures.

However, they know as well as anybody that they need to work on their consistency if they are going to challenge for any trophies this season.

Here, we look ahead to the Reds’ next three fixtures.

Chelsea – Away (Premier League)

It is going to be a true clash of the titans when these two sides face off on Friday Night Football this week, with both making impressive starts to the season. Chelsea are starting to find their feet under new manager Antonio Conte and with no European competitions to distract them, they could be one of the favourites for the title this season.

The same could be said of Liverpool though, and they have proven in the past that they have the ability to get the best of the Blues when it matters the most. Both sides should be looking to field fully strengthened squads with not many injuries to talk about, and a draw is well within Liverpool’s reach at Stamford Bridge.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool

Derby County – Away (League Cup)

It is a good time to play Derby after their poor start to the Championship season. Liverpool will more than likely feature a pretty strong side as well as a few youngsters, while the Rams may use the League Cup to distract themselves from their lacklustre start.

If Derby were playing to their fullest capabilities they might stand more of a chance in this, but at the present moment Liverpool will be expecting a relatively easy passage into the next round.

Prediction: Derby County 0-2 Liverpool

Hull City – Home (Premier League)

Hull have surprised everyone with the start they have made to the season after they were initially tipped as certainties for the drop. However, Liverpool will look at this as the perfect opportunity to prove they can get the job done against the smaller sides in the division.

Assuming they have a full-strength side at their disposal, a no-nonsense victory should be on the cards for Liverpool in front of what is sure to a lively Anfield crowd as always.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Hull City
