Tottenham Hotspur had one of their most positive seasons in recent history last year, and they’re looking to go one step further this time around.

Over the last few years Tottenham have slowly but surely been transforming themselves into a side capable of making a run for the title, and under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino they came oh so close last season. Leicester’s fantastic surge coupled with a poor drop in form saw the club miss out on the trophy, and they even ended up finishing below bitter rivals Arsenal.
But with a new season comes new hope, and with Spurs set to compete in four different competitions there’s alot to look forward to for the men in white.
Premier League
Having been in the title race for a good portion of last season, some fans will be expecting much more of the same from their side in 2016/17. However, despite the fact they’ve managed to keep the main core of their squad intact, the extra weight of the Champions League could prove to be a deal breaker.

Spurs have the quality to juggle the different competitions, but their lack of experience in title races and their tendency to slip up late in the season could prove to be their downfall. They’ll still pick up some big victories over the course of the season, but a battle to get into the top four seems much more likely than lifting the trophy.
Prediction: 5th
Champions League
In their previous Champions League campaign the North London side proved many people wrong when they reached the quarter-finals, defeating the likes of Inter Milan and AC Milan in the process. Whether or not they’ll be able to replicate that feat is another story, but a relatively favourable group offers room for cautious optimism.

They trounced Monaco 4-1 in the Europa League last season, meanwhile CSKA Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen are both sides they’ll be confident of defeating. Where they go from there is anyone’s guess, but with a winnable group another run to the quarter-finals wouldn’t be surprising.

F.A Cup
As with every other side it’s impossible to say what kind of draw Tottenham will get this season, but with the quality they possess they should go into every game with the mentality that they can come away victorious. How high the competition will be on the priority list the big question mark for fans.

Depending on who they face along the way, the Fifth Round seems like a realistic target for this campaign given how things could transpire in the other cups. It doesn’t seem like something they’re giving the highest amount of focus to, however a string of draws against lower league sides could change their fortunes.

League Cup
Tottenham Hotspur have had a strong connection to the League Cup in their recent history with a number of positive appearances over the years. In addition to winning the competition in 1999 and 2008, they also claimed the runners-up medal in both 2009 and 2015.
With the strength of their squad it seems like they could infact challenge for the trophy once again, however it depends on which domestic cup they’ll choose to put their attention towards.
