As the dust settled on yet another disappointing night at Villa Park, fans were calling for change as they saw their club once again fail to hold on and pick up all three points. The expectations are understandably high for Aston Villa and that won’t change as we enter the second half of September.

Ipswich – Away
It’s been a solid start to the season for the Tractor Boys as they find themselves 9th after the first seven games. They made some big moves over the summer and look set to make another charge for the play-offs under veteran manager Mick McCarthy.
It’ll be another tough encounter for Villa as Ipswich look like the more organised unit of the two, however with Villa’s strikeforce you can never entirely count them out. Both teams will be looking to be in the top six come May, so it could end up being quite the nervous encounter.

The Magpies have got off to a flying start this season, as evidenced by their 6-0 domination of QPR at Loftus Road. Their strength in depth blows the rest of the division out of the water and they should be extremely confident of securing promotion back to the top flight at the first attempt.
Villa will be familiar with Newcastle however both sides have made very different starts to the campaign, and judging by their respective home and away records it seems likely that the away side will be favourites to come away with the victory.

Barnsley are the definition of a surprise package so far this season, as they currently reside in third following a lightning start to their Championship return. With a batch of young and hungry players coupled with a strong fanbase, who knows where this momentum could take them?
Whether or not Villa can capture some of the magic that the Tykes have remains to be seen, but at this stage a point is likely the best they can hope for in this fixture. By the time this game rolls around, things may start to be clicking in to place in terms of how settled the team is.
