After behind-closed-doors wins over Southend United and Brentford, Spurs are now over in the United States, and play against Roma in San Diego in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The Tottenham squad in America is lacking a number of star players, as Hugo Lloris, Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli and Harry Kane are all missing due to extended breaks after their World Cup exploits.
A number of young players will therefore be looking to make their mark ahead of the new Premier League season, and Mauricio Pochettino will be faced with a tough selection for the game.
Michel Vorm should start in goal given the absence of Lloris, edging out Paulo Gazzaniga, whilst Serge Aurier should get the nod at right back ahead of Kyle Walker-Peters given that Trippier is missing.
With Alderweireld, Dier, Vertonghen and even the injured Juan Foyth all out, Tottenham have just three recognised centre backs available, and Davinson Sanchez – who reached the World Cup knockout stages with Colomboa – should partner Cameron Carter-Vickers, with TJ Eyoma another option.
Dembele and Dier are at home, so Moussa Sissoko may get a chance to impress in midfield alongside Victor Wanyama, whilst Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura could play in an attacking midfield trident.
With questions about Fernando Llorente’s future, Son Heung-min may be given the nod in attack rather than out wide, with Kazaiah Sterling another option in attack.
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Luke Amos, Brandon Austin, Anthony Georgiou, George Marsh, Tashan Oakley-Boothe, Oliver Skipp and Alfie Whiteman are also on tour and should be used as substitutes either at half time or after an hour.
