Match to be played on Sunday 30th March 2014 at 16:00. Venue: Anfield, Liverpool.
Tim Sherwood will be much happier heading into this weekend’s game at Liverpool after his side came from 2-0 down against Southampton to secure an important three points last weekend.
Spurs have also been handed some good news in the form of their defence as Vlad Chiriches and Michael Dawson returned to training earlier this week, with Dawson the more likely of the pair to feature this weekend.
Here’s the side Sherwood could go with for the game at Anfield.
GK – Hugo Lloris
The Frenchman will be looking to hit some good form ahead of the World Cup and this is another chance for him to impress against a dangerous opponent.
RB – Kyle Naughton
Naughton will most likely continue at right-back as Kyle Walker recovers from another injury set back. He needs to stay switched on as Daniel Sturridge could drift onto him at times.
CB – Michael Dawson
If Dawson is anything close to being match fit then he needs to go back into the defence. He’ll provide some stability and should make Tottenham more difficult to break down.
CB – Jan Vertonghen
Vertonghen has been tipped to join Liverpool in the summer but he’ll be fully focused on the job he has to do for Spurs.
LB – Danny Rose
Rose’s pace down the left will be important and useful if he has to deal with Raheem Sterling attacking him throughout the game.
RM – Aaron Lennon
Lennon will be one of the most important attacking players for Spurs in this game. Liverpool will try and take him out of the game and nullify him so he may have to think outside the box.
CM – Mousa Dembele
It’s important for Spurs to have someone in the middle of the team who can deal with the pace and agility across Liverpool’s midfield. Dembele could make it difficult for any Liverpool player to enjoy time on the ball.
CM – Nabil Bentaleb
Bentaleb has been a favourite of Sherwood since he took over as boss. It’s an important game for Bentaleb against a very good opponent.
AM – Christian Eriksen
Expect to see Eriksen in a more natural central role. Spurs need to get him onto the ball as quickly as possible to try and expose recent examples of weakness in the Liverpool back four.
LM – Nacer Chadli
Chadli has put in some decent performances in recent weeks and he could be the man to make the difference on the right side of midfield.
ST – Roberto Soldado
If Emmanuel Adebayor hasn’t recovered from a hamstring problem then Soldado will continue in attack. He needs to work hard throughout the game both when Spurs do and don’t have possession.
