Match to be played on Saturday 1st February 2014 at 15:00. Venue: The KC Stadium, Hull.
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Tim Sherwood will want his side to produce an instant reaction when they go into the game against Hull City this weekend.
Spurs fell short in several areas as they were well beaten by Manchester City at White Hart Lane last night. Sherwood could make a couple of changes for the game as Tottenham look to get back on track.
Here’s the side he could go with.
GK – Hugo Lloris
The Frenchman is the best goalkeeper that Tottenham have at the club. He’ll continue in the number one role, always encouraging the defence to push up.
RB – Kyle Walker
Walker’s pace going forward is a good tool to have in the shed but he needs to work hard on his defensive game, as Hull could target him in this match.
CB – Michael Dawson
Dawson has been in the defence on the end of some bad defeats this season. He should have the leadership skill and experience to drag a solid performance out of everyone around him.
CB – Vlad Chiriches
Chiriches may have been swapped for Jan Vertonghen but Danny Rose being suspended means he will more than likely retain his place in the back four.
LB – Jan Vertonghen
If the Belgian is anything close to match fit then Sherwood will more than likely throw him in at the deep end. It’s a risk but the Spurs back four needs an injection of quality which he will provide.
RM – Aaron Lennon
Andros Townsend is still a little way short of being available for the first team, which means Lennon should keep his place at right midfield. He needs to focus on utilising his speed on the counter attack.
DM – Etienne Capoue
Presuming that Capoue is still a Tottenham player by the close of the transfer deadline tomorrow, he could be asked to sit in front of the back four and protect the defence, as well as breaking up the play.
CM – Mousa Dembele
Dembele needs to impose himself on the Tottenham midfield. He has everything needed to break up the play as well as getting on the ball and making key, influential passes.
LM – Christian Eriksen
Spurs need to get Eriksen on the ball whenever they can. He’s one of the best in the side when it comes to feeding the strikers as well as getting into good attacking positions himself.
ST – Emmanuel Adebayor
Didn’t have his best game against City but it would be a bad idea to drop him. He has the size, presence and the skill to dominate Hull’s defence.
ST – Roberto Soldado
Soldado didn’t get off the bench as City won at White Hart Lane. If he starts up top, he can work the Hull defence hard, pushing them back and creating space for others.
