Here’s the potential Tottenham team for next season based on current players and possible signings.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino continues to work on adding signings to his Spurs side ahead of the new Premier League season.
Spurs are being strongly linked with key Southampton due Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez in a transfer saga, which could go right the way down to the final day of the transfer window.
We’ve had a go at trying to name the Tottenham side for next season.
GK – Hugo Lloris
The French shot stopper returned to training with Spurs earlier this week and will be number one ahead of Michel Vorm.
RB – Kyle Walker
Walker had an inconsistent season last time round and missed the World Cup but he stands a good chance of starting over on the right.
CB – Vlad Chiriches
Chiriches will be better for having a season in the Premier League under his belt. His pace will be crucial.
CB – Jan Vertonghen
The experienced Belgian will be one of Tottenham’s most important players this season.
LB – Ben Davies
Davies has taken to life at Spurs like a duck to water and seems to have instantly clicked with the way Pochettino likes his sides to play football.
RM – Aaron Lennon
Lennon’s pace down the right hand side will be crucial when Spurs counter attack. His final ball needs to be consistent this season.
DM – Morgan Schneiderlin
The French holding player is battling against Southampton trying to stop him from leaving. He’s already handed in a transfer request as he tries to force a move.
CM – Mousa Dembele
Dembele was inconsistent at the World Cup but he showed glimpses that he can control games against very good opponents.
AM – Christian Eriksen
The Dane should be as fresh as a daisy. He spent large parts of last season out on the left hand side but should move in centrally where he’s more effective.
LM – Andros Townsend
The England winger has been working hard during the off season to maintain his fitness. He has everything needed to be one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League this season.
ST – Jay Rodriguez
Rodriguez is the other Saints player the south coast club are going all out to try and keep. The Englishman would be a top quality addition to the Spurs attack if they can pull off a deal before the deadline.
