Here is how we predict Sunderland and Southampton will line up this week:

To be played on Wednesday 26th October 2016 at 18:45. Venue: St Mary’s Stadium,

Odds: Southampton 2/5, Draw 18/5, Sunderland 7/1

Sunderland travel to St Mary’s on Wednesday evening to take on Southampton in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

The Black Cats are having a woeful Premier League campaign, going nine games without a victory and already finding themselves five points clear of safety, so it remains to be seen if this cup match is a help or a hindrance.

A victory against the high-flying Saints would certainly be a confidence boost, even if three points in the league is all that matters at this stage of the campaign.

Sunderland manager David Moyes

Sunderland manager David Moyes has some decisions to make in terms of team selection given that he faces a huge match against Arsenal on Saturday.

In early team news, Sunderland are without Vito Mannone, Jason Denayer, Adnan Januzaj, Jan Kirchhoff, Lee Cattermole, Seb Larsson and Fabio Borini.

Southampton cannot call on Shane Long and Jeremy Pied, while there are doubts regarding Ryan Bertrand, Cedric Soares and Matt Targett.
