They have three home games coming up within their next five games, and all of them are winnable games. The Saints have been struggling to score goals this season, having managed only three goals at home. Interestingly, they have failed to score in eight of their last nine home matches.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s men are heading into this match on the back of two straight defeats in the Premier League. In fact, they managed only one win in their last five games.
However, the Saints do have a good record against the Magpies, having won their last four matches against them in all competitions.
Ahead of the match, Mauricio Pellegrino confirmed that Shane Long, who picked up a hip injury whilst on international duty, is fit ahead of the Newcastle game.
He has returned to training with the Saints this week and looks all set to be available when Rafa Benitez’s side visit St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.
