Sheffield Wednesday could move into the play-offs by beating fourth-place Bristol City on Saturday.
Days after Sheffield Wednesday’s 3-2 win against Bristol City in September 2016, Lee Johnson was invited on to Channel 5’s Football League highlights show.
“I love the way they play,” said the Bristol City manager. “(Kieran) Lee, the little bugger, popped up three or four times against us on Tuesday night, (and scored) a late winner. He just keeps bombing on. It’s so difficult, when they throw caution to the wind, to deal with.”
Much to Johnson’s dismay, Lee is back in contention for Wednesday after missing the Owls’ win at Aston Villa before the break for internationals, his manager Carlos Carvalhal told a press conference on Thursday.
But Lee’s fitness might not be enough to earn him a recall, with Jacob Butterfield excelling in his absence at Villa Park. If Lee – who is Wednesday’s second top league goalscorer this season with three – is to return, it will likely be at the expense of Ross Wallace, as one of three central midfielders supporting Adam Reach in the free role.
Otherwise, the Owls are unlikely to make any changes, which would be something of a novelty under Carvalhal.
