Sheffield Wednesday could hardly have timed their return to form better, ahead of their first encounter with Sheffield United in five years on Sunday.
Only a last-minute equaliser from Cardiff City’s Sol Bamba last time out prevented Carlos Carvalhal’s side from taking maximum points from their three September fixtures so far.

Had they held on for the win, the Owls would have been above United on goal difference, after the Blades wobbled at home to Norwich City.
With no new injuries to worry about, Carvalhal should be able to name something close to a settled team at Hillsborough, with Ross Wallace in line to return after being rested for Wednesday’s trip to Wales.

That could in turn see Adam Reach, who provided last week’s assist for Gary Hooper with a fine bit of wing play, revert to left-back in place of Daniel Pudil.
That said, Carvalhal may be tempted to continue with the Czech international, who is a more natural defender and has more big game experience than his teammate, although its hard to see Reach missing out.
