Sheffield Wednesday travel to Norwich City on Saturday.

A general view inside the ground prior to the Barclays Premier League match between Norwich City and Sunderland at Carrow Road on April 16, 2016 in Norwich, England.

Two teams with pre-season promotion expectations meet at Carrow Road on Saturday in 12th (Sheffield Wednesday) and 16th (Norwich City) position.

Neither are in great form. Wednesday are seven games unbeaten but have won only two of those, while Norwich haven’t won at all in that time.

It is against those below them, however, that Wednesday tend to struggle the most, having only beaten three of the 11 bottom half sides they’ve faced.

Failing to overcome another in Norwich could leave the Owls down there themselves. And while there is no indication yet that Carlos Carvalhal’s position as manager of the Yorkshire side could be under threat, he surely cannot afford to fall much further out of contention.

Carvalhal is again without key men Sam Hutchinson and Fernando Forestieri for the trip to Norwich, with George Boyd also absent and Jack Hunt and Steven Fletcher in danger of joining them.

The Portuguese’s biggest dilemma will perhaps be whether or not to start with Atdhe Nuhiu, who has impressed in his last two cameos, alongside ex-Norwich striker Gary Hooper.

Jordan Rhodes is likely to play if not, with Ross Wallace and Kieran Lee well placed to earn recalls.
