Sheffield Wednesday travel to Millwall in the Championship on Tuesday.
The games are coming thick and fast for Sheffield Wednesday, who play for the fourth time in 11 days against Millwall on Tuesday night.
Hillsborough’s ongoing injury crisis has not made the situation any easier, although the emergence of several Owls youngsters has at least given the impression of freshness.
Two of those, Jordan Thorniley and Sean Clare, were cup tied for Saturday’s FA Cup draw against Swansea City, and could return at the Den, with changes expected from Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay – who made six against the Welshmen.
Goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith is almost certain to be restored, as are midfield man Joey Pelupessy and striker Lucas Joao – who scored both the Owls goals in Tuesday’s win against Derby County.
Luhukay must choose between Thorniley and Glenn Loovens – the Wednesday captain – at the heart of his defence, and the recently returned Jack Hunt and Liam Palmer at right wing-back, while Morgan Fox and George Boyd will vie for a place on the opposite flank.
The Dutchman’s only other dilemma is likely to be whether to deploy two centre-forwards – in which case Atdhe Nuhiu will play in the absence of Jordan Rhodes – or a secondary striker – the role filled by Ross Wallace on Saturday.
Boyd could even take Wallace’s place, with the latter often struggling to play two games in week.
