Glasgow Rangers and St Johnstone go head-to-head this week.

Pedro Caixinha poses with a team shirt after he is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers at Ibrox Stadium on March 13, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers’ players return to domestic matters after the latest international break, and Pedro Caixinha’s side will be hoping to get off to the best possible start with a victory against St Johnstone on Friday evening.

The Gers are currently third in the Scottish Premiership table with 14 points from eight matches, and while they are already six points behind leaders Celtic, there are plenty of reasons to be positive.

A general view of Ibrox Stadium is seen ahead of the EURO 2016 Qualifier match between Scotland and Georgia at Ibrox Stadium on October 11, 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

It was always going to take time for Rangers to challenge at the top of the table but Caixinha is building a squad capable of making an impact and in time the glory days should return to Ibrox.

Rangers can start by taking three points off the side directly below them in the table, knowing that a victory would put some daylight between the top three and the chasing pack.

For now Rangers are part of that pack, looking up at the Bhoys and Aberdeen, but Caixinha must get his side fighting for every single point in the coming months.

Caixinha used the international break to work on his defence and he will be hoping to reap the rewards between now and May.

In early team news, Bruno Alves looks set to return to the squad after a recent injury, while Niko Kranjcar and Danny Wilson are also in contention but may have to make do with a place on the bench. Summer signing Ryan Jack is suspended after his sending off against Hamilton Academical last time out.

With all that in mind here is how we expect Rangers to line up later this week:
