Rangers face Rapid Vienna at Ibrox on Thursday night.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reacts during the Ladbrokes Premiership match between Livingston and Rangers at Livingston on September 30, 2018 in Livingston, Scotland.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has a number of decisions to make to his starting XI ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League clash against Rapid Vienna – after a dismal loss to Livingston on Sunday.

Gerrard fielded a very strong side at the Tony Macaroni Stadium, but Dolly Menga’s goal saw Gary Holt’s side produce an unlikely 1-0 win over The Gers – leaving them in sixth place and two points behind Celtic.

Next up for Rangers is Rapid Vienna, with Gerrard looking for his side to build on the excellent 2-2 draw against Spanish giants Villarreal away from home last month.

If the Gers are to gain a place in the knockout round of the Europa League, then using Ibrox to the fullest advantage is crucial and that will also see a level of expectancy among fans when Vienna come to town.

Gerrard kept the likes of Eros Grezda, Andy Halliday, Ryan Kent and Nikola Katic on the bench, while Ryan Jack and Jamie Murphy remain sidelined through injury.

With Jack still out, Halliday is expected to return to the starting line-up in place of Ovie Ejaria while Katic is likely to replace new signing Joe Worrall who struggled against Livi on Sunday.

Kent impressed for Rangers when coming on at half-time against Livi – perhaps being one of the only positives from Sunday’s loss and he is also expected to return to the side. Kyle Lafferty may be dropped to the bench.
