Steven Gerrard has a number of important decisions to make when picking his Rangers starting XI to take on Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Gerrard watched his side suffer a disappointing loss to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday night, losing 2-1 despite going ahead through Jermain Defoe’s first goal for the club.
The Liverpool legend combined Defoe and Alfredo Morelos up front, fielding a midfield that included Ryan Kent, Scott Arfield, Steven Davis and Ryan Jack to combine the two strikers.
But it was in defence where Rangers looked weak, with the absence of Connor Goldson hitting the Gers hard. Joe Worrall was at fault for Killie’s first goal, losing the ball to Eamonn Brophy who ran through and scored.
It is likely to see Worrall axed for Sunday’s game, with Goldson expected to be ready in time to fade Gary Holt’s side. Borna Barisic is also likely to feature, as he also fights his way back to full fitness.
Gareth McAuley was also criticised for his performance as he failed to cope with Killie’s fast-paced counter attack, and it may see Nikola Katic given a first start since November.
Three changes in defence for Gerrard’s side, then. In come Katic, Goldson and Barisic, out come McAuley, Worrall and Andy Halliday.
