Queens Park Rangers could start Matt Smith for the visit to Bristol City.
Queens Park Rangers are in action again on Tuesday evening as they travel to Bristol City, with Matt Smith likely to keep his place up top after his strong performances of late.
The QPR forward scored twice in the 4-3 reverse to Birmingham City at the weekend, and also scored in the FA Cup win over Portsmouth, bringing his tally to three goals in as many games.
Smith has provided R’s boss Steve McClaren with a fresh alternative in the striking department, and it appears that could be a useful asset as Rangers look to get back to winning ways.
It is now five games without a win for McClaren’s side and, although the trip to Ashton Gate provides an opportunity to record a much needed victory, the Robins are in blistering form themselves.
Lee Johnson’s side have won their last six Championship games on the bounce and have not lost in the league since November, which signifies just how good Rangers will have to be to get some much-needed points.
Aside from the expected inclusion of Smith, McClaren must determine whether to call upon skipper Toni Leistner, who played the second-half of the Birmingham loss.
The centre-back has generally been very good since his summer switch to Loftus Road, but has shown inconsistencies in recent games. Other than that, McClaren should stick with the same starting XI as Saturday but might be tempted to revert to a 4-2-3-1, which will likely keep Eberechi Eze benched.
