Newcastle United head to Bournemouth tomorrow, where Steve Bruce will surely want his side to show a greater amount of attacking intent than they did in their last outing.
Newcastle took on Manchester City in the FA Cup, and in the first-half they barely made it out their own half.
Newcastle’s switch to a five-man defence against Manchester City did not have the intended impact, as they were simply too defensive.
While it is never an easy task coming up against City, most around Newcastle felt that they should have shown a greater intent to go forward.
As a result Bruce may well revert back to the 4-4-1-1 system which has had some success since the restart.
The Magpies looked a real threat against Sheffield United, in a 3-0 victory, and also managed to pick up a draw with Aston Villa.
If Bruce does take up a more attacking approach then it seems likely that Valentino Lazaro and Jonjo Shelvey could come back in to the team.
Joelinton, the 23-year-old Brazilian, may also start ahead of Andy Carroll, because there must be doubts over the Englishman’s ability to start two games in a week.
If Newcastle are able to get the three points tomorrow, they could move up as high as 12th in the Premier League standings.
