Newcastle United join the chase for the EFL Cup this week when they take on Nottingham Forest at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies have had a poor start to life back in the top flight, losing their first two matches of the season to Tottenham Hotspur and Huddersfield, and their manager Rafa Benitez will be hopeful of securing a victory on Wednesday evening to give his side some much needed confidence.
That said, some changes are expected with Newcastle possessing plenty of players hoping for their opportunity after being overlooked thus far.
New signing Joselu could start up front while Mo Diame, Karl Darlow, Rolando Aarons, Jacob Murphy and Aleksandar Mitrovic may all feature after being named on the bench last weekend.
Newcastle are without midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and defender DeAndre Yedlin, Paul Dummett and Florian Lejeune but they have an otherwise full squad to choose from and we will soon find out how seriously Benitez is taking this competition.
While the chance of silverware is important, the Magpies boss will already have one eye on the weekend clash with fellow strugglers West Ham United.
