Manchester United will be full of confidence heading into the second leg of their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

United produced an impressive win against Newcastle United and head to the Allianz Arena well place to progress to the last four at 1-1 after the first leg at Old Trafford.

Here’s the side Moyes could go with for the match.

GK – David De Gea

The Spaniard will be one of the first names down in the team sheet. He’s been one of, if not, United’s most consistent players this season.

RB – Chris Smalling

This is far too big a game for Moyes to take any risks, which means Smalling could be preferred to Rafael on the right side of defence.

CB – Phil Jones

Jones should stay in a central role. He’ll be under a lot of pressure and needs to resist attempts to pull him out of position.

CB – Nemanja Vidic

Vidic will be fresh after he was rested for the game against Newcastle. He’ll provide experience and leadership, both of which will be important if the game doesn’t start well for Moyes’ men.

LB – Patrice Evra

Evra will have a real challenge on his hands as he tries to keep Arjen Robben from having any impact on the game.

RM – Antonio Valencia

Valencia needs to start this game because he can double up with Smalling on the right and also because his pace will be important on the counter attack.

CM – Michael Carrick

Carrick’s job is to control the tempo and the pace of the play, nudging forward into more advanced positions when he gets the chance to do so.

CM – Marouane Fellaini

The Belgian needs to race around the pitch, becoming that disruptive and aggressive player who stops Bayern from settling into their normal, fluent style of football.

CM – Shinji Kagawa

This could be a rare chance for Kagawa to move into central midfield, towards the top of the attack. He has a good record against Bayern, experience of playing them away from home and he can provide control.

LM – Danny Welbeck

If Wayne Rooney is fit, he starts. That means Welbeck will be forced to play a wider role over on the left hand side, cutting into the middle if United get any spells of pressure.

ST – Wayne Rooney

Rooney faces a race against time as he looks to recover from a toe injury. He’ll go straight into the starting line-up if he’s anything close to match fit.
