Match to be played on Saturday 30th August 2014 at 15:00. Venue: Etihad Stadium, Manchester.
Manchester City head into this weekend’s game against Stoke City looking to maintain a perfect start to their Premier League title defence.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men secured a comfortable 3-1 victory at home against Liverpool earlier this week which keeps the momentum going as the boss mulls over whether to make changes this weekend.
We’ve had a go at naming the side Pellegrini could go with.
GK – Joe Hart
England’s number one is still the best all round goalkeeper that City have available. He stays in the team.
RB – Pablo Zabaleta
Zabaleta may head into this game looking to right a wrong having scored an own goal against Liverpool.
CB – Vincent Kompany
Manchester City’s captain has been in good form and will be a key player should Stoke try and hit City over the top.
CB – Martin Demichelis
Seems to have grown in confidence after the World Cup. He’s looking sharper and more settled in the back four.
LB – Gael Clichy
Clichy offers pace down the left hand side and provides a good outlet for the midfield should the middle become congested.
RM – Samir Nasri
Nasri looks at home on the right hand side and is well suited to cutting in and getting involved in the central play.
CM – Yaya Toure
Toure’s ability to work box-to-box doesn’t need to be sold. He always starts when he’s fit and available.
CM – Fernando
City fans should feel happy with the player they snapped up earlier this summer. He works his socks off.
LM – David Silva
Played well against Liverpool earlier this week. He offers complete control when he’s in possession.
ST – Stevan Jovetic
It would be harsh from Pellegrini not to keep him in the team following a strong performance against Liverpool.
ST – Sergio Aguero
Aguero could start up front after Dzeko suffered a leg knock against Liverpool. He’s not a bad replacement to have coming into the team.
