Manchester City welcome Borussia Monchengladbach to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening for their first Champions League group match of the new campaign.

The Blues made light work of their qualifying tie against Steaua Bucharest last month and their reward is a group containing the German club, Celtic and Barcelona.

As a result it will be anything but easy; however City enter the contest off the back of an impressive 2-1 derby victory against Manchester United, and if they play as they did at Old Trafford they should be too much for the Bundesliga club.

City manager Pep Guardiola knows how to triumph in this competition and it has become something of the Holy Grail for a Blues side looking to make a big statement in Europe just as they have in domestic competition.
