Match to be played on Wednesday 12th February 2014 at 20:00. Venue: Craven Cottage, London.
Liverpool will be buzzing as they head to West London to take on Fulham having completely taken apart Arsenal at Anfield.
However, Fulham will also be high on confidence after taking a point from their visit to Old Trafford, which means this game should be a very entertaining spectacle to behold.
Here’s the side Brendan Rodgers could select for the game.
GK – Simon Mignolet
Looked a little bit hectic early on against Arsenal but settled down well and gave a commanding performance, with sensible distribution that helped his side maintain pressure.
RB – Jon Flanagan
Flanagan was superb against Arsenal and his performance will do him a world of good. Defensively he looks like a smart player and he’s aware of when he can get forward and help in attack.
CB – Martin Skrtel
Skrtel offers strength and presence in the heart of the back four. His first job is to defend but if Fulham take their eye off him as Arsenal did then he can hurt any team from set pieces.
CB – Kolo Toure
Toure said he wanted to make up for his mistake against West Brom and he did just that against the Gunners. He’ll keep his place.
LB – Aly Cissokho
Cissokho looks like a much better player than the defender who first turned out for the club. He’s got a great knack of being able to make late runs forward, offering an outlet to the midfield.
RM – Raheem Sterling
Sterling seems to have settled down into the right midfield role, making the suggestions he could leave the club on loan before Christmas look ever so slightly silly.
CM – Jordan Henderson
Henderson has been one of Liverpool’s most consistent central players this season. He can play a variety of roles and is effective whether he’s breaking up the play or playing as more of a number ten.
CM – Steven Gerrard
Gerrard will hover between deep and advanced positions but he should see this as a game where he can press forward, giving in to his attacking instincts. He can rotate with any position across the midfield.
LM – Philippe Coutinho
Coutinho may start out on the left but he won’t always stay there. When Cissokho gets forward or Daniel Sturridge drifts left, he’ll come in and play behind the strikers.
ST – Daniel Sturridge
Sturridge will play centrally, next to Luis Suarez when Liverpool are well on top. If there are any spells when Fulham start to get into the game, then he should drift out to the left hand side.
ST – Luis Suarez
Suarez will do what he does best, which is sit at the top of the attack trying to cause chaos. He’ll press defenders, he’ll drop off, he’ll switch centre backs and he’ll run the channels.
