Here’s the possible Liverpool team for next season based on current players and potential signings.
It’s been a mixed week for Liverpool as they reportedly contend with the idea they won’t have their best player next season against an undoubtedly positive arrival in the shape of Adam Lallana from Southampton.
The club also continues to be linked with several other transfers as Brendan Rodgers looks to go one better and win the Premier League next season.
We’ve had a go at attempting to name the Liverpool team, which will head into next season.
GK – Simon Mignolet
The Belgian goalkeeper is the current number one at the club and he should start ahead of any other shot stopper in the squad.
RB – Jon Flanagan
Flanagan showed heaps of promise and potential last season. He’s got enough fitness and pace to be able to patrol the right hand side.
CB – Martin Skrtel
Skrtel’s brand of effective and no nonsense defending means he’s likely to start as a key player in the back four.
CB – Mamadou Sakho
Sakho made a shaky start to life at Liverpool but he’s improved from the player who first joined the club. He’ll be better off for his World Cup experience.
LB – Alberto Moreno
Moreno is a player who has been regularly linked with an Anfield move. If Liverpool can get a fee agreed with Sevilla then he’ll be a superb investment.
RM – Raheem Sterling
The England international is one of the quickest players in the Premier League and someone who should keep his place in the starting side.
CM – Lucas
Lucas did a great job in front of the back four last season. It’s a role, which provides Rodgers with the luxury of being able to use other players in more advanced positions.
CM – Steven Gerrard
Gerrard is Liverpool’s inspirational leader and he slots into the middle of the team. He can drop off and get forward.
CM – Jordan Henderson
Henderson was arguably Liverpool’s best player last season apart from Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez. He’s versatile and can fill in anywhere across the middle of the team.
LM – Adam Lallana
Liverpool’s new £25 million signing is good enough to take care of the left hand side for the club, although he’s arguably more effective from a central role.
ST – Daniel Sturridge
With Luis Suarez facing a potential exit, Sturridge could find himself promoted to being the club’s most important attacking figure. He excelled last season when under pressure.
