Here’s what Liverpool’s team could look like next season based on current players and potential signings.

Liverpool will have a tough time replicating the success of last season without the goals of striker Luis Suarez to fall back on.

However, Brendan Rodgers has added well in the transfer market with plenty of cash to back him up as he looks to make further additions ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Here’s what Liverpool’s team could look like this season.

GK – Simon Mignolet

Mignolet showed a little inconsistency last season but he’ll be better for having a full season with the club under his belt.

RB – Jon Flanagan

Flanagan is arguably a better option in the back four than Glen Johnson. Flanagan looked like an extremely competent and versatile defender last season.

CB – Martin Skrtel

Skrtel will do the basics of defending consistently and will keep the back four well organised.

CB – Daniel Agger

Agger could slot into the back four if Rodgers decides that he’s not going to sell the committed Dane this summer.

LB – Alberto Moreno

Reports continue to flood in hinting at Liverpool’s interest in the left-back. Once they agree a fee with Sevilla, talks should progress quickly.

RM – Raheem Sterling

Sterling’s pace and skill on the counter attack means he has to start. He’s also a good option to have moving into the centre of the team.

DM – Emre Can

Can was bought as a holding player so it would be a surprise if he’s not granted the chance to impress in that position.

CM – Steven Gerrard

Gerrard will be one of the first names down on the team sheet for the first game against Southampton. He’ll be a key figure if the season doesn’t start well.

AM – Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian looked in decent shape against FC Brondby and should start in the number ten role, as opposed to a left midfield position.

LM – Lazar Markovic

That left midfield position should be taken up by Liverpool’s new Serbian signing. Rodgers needs to give him a chance to create chaos.

ST – Daniel Sturridge

It would be a surprise if anyone other than Sturridge starts though the middle of the team. It will be interesting to see how he plays without Suarez alongside him.
