Liverpool’s potential side for next season based on current players and possible signings.

Brendan Rodgers has a big question to address ahead of next season and that’s how he’s going to replace Luis Suarez.

Suarez’ ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini means that even if the club avoids selling him to Barcelona or Real Madrid, the boss still has a headache over how to cope without the Uruguayan.

Here’s the side he may go with.

GK – Simon Mignolet

The Belgian will continue in goal. Pepe Reina is set to return to the club but unlikely to oust Mignolet from the team.

RB – Glen Johnson

Johnson will most likely get the nod on the right hand side of the back four ahead of Jon Flanagan.

CB – Martin Skrtel

One of the side’s most important players last season. He does the basics of defending well under pressure and is a leader.

CM – Mamadou Sakho

The Frenchman will be a better player for the season he’s just had in English football. He should start.

LB – Alberto Moreno

Moreno’s arrival at Liverpool depends on the club agreeing a price with Sevilla. Once that’s in place, it would be surprising if he didn’t make the move.

RM – Raheem Sterling

Sterling’s pace on the counter attack is one of the biggest weapons Liverpool have. He has to start.

CM – Emre Can

Can may start from the first game to offer the back four some extra protection to make Liverpool hard to break through defensively.

CM – Steven Gerrard

Gerrard has a big role to play as the leader in the side. He’ll be under pressure if the Reds don’t start well.

CM – Jordan Henderson

Henderson and Gerrard will most likely rotate in behind the main striker, making it difficult for the opposition’s holding player to focus on one threat.

LM – Alexis Sanchez

Speculation has been everywhere this week that Liverpool are talking with Barcelona over a move. There’s no doubt he starts if he makes the move.

ST – Daniel Sturridge

Sturridge has to carry the burden of being the club’s main striker. He was superb last season but he has to cope without Suarez’ runs and intelligence.
