Liverpool expected to stick with most of the side that beat Chelsea, while Hull could feature several of their six summer signings.

Liverpool welcome Hull City to Anfield this weekend on the back of a huge result at Chelsea and a comprehensive defeat of Derby in the EFL Cup.

The Reds will look to make it four wins out of five to boost their Champions League hopes, but will be wary of a Hull side who have made a comfortable return to Premier League life.

Hull City caretaker manager Mike Phelan before the match

Mike Phelan’s future at the KCOM Stadium remains unresolved but he has led Hull to a good start after replacing Steve Bruce at the helm.

But The Tigers are in the middle of a horrible run of games. They lost 4-1 to Arsenal previously and after Liverpool they go on to host Antonio Conte’s Chelsea in a real test of Phelan’s side’s credentials.

Jake Livermore returns from his suspension and could line up alongside Curtis Davies in defence, while any of summer signings Ryan Mason, Markus Henriksen, David Marshall, Will Keane, James Weir and Dieumerci Mbokani, who all started in the midweek win at Stoke, could make their league bows too.

Mason and Henriksen opened their accounts for Hull in their EFL Cup win and Phelan is likely to rotate his squad having been forced to field the same XI for most of the season so far.

Robert Snodgrass and Shaun Maloney were rested while Tom Huddlestone, Ahmed Elmohamady and Adama Diomande all made fleeting appearances and will return to the starting line-up.

Liverpool's Jordan Henderson celebrates scoring their second goal

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp is likely to name the same side that beat Chelsea 2-1 last Friday with the exception of Daniel Sturridge who is a fitness concern, so Divock Origi, fresh from scoring against Derby, could lead the line instead.

Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum didn’t feature in midweek so they will return either side of Jordan Henderson, whose sensational strike turned out to be the winner against The Blues.

Klopp’s only contentious decision would be who to start with in goal, as Loris Karius kept a clean sheet on his debut to assert his claim as The Reds’ number one, but Simon Mignolet has started the season in relatively good form.

Liverpool are unbeaten against Hull at home and the visitors have only won twice in 20 matches against their opponents, but are yet to lose away from home this season.
