Everton have little but pride left to play for this season while Saturday’s opponents Swansea City are fighting for their Premier League lives.

Sam Allardyce, Manager of Everton looks on prior to the Premier League match between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park on April 7, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Everton have endured a topsy turvy season with Ronald Koeman axed and eventually replaced by the hugely unpopular Sam Allardyce.

The former England boss has done the job of lifting the Toffees out of the relegation zone and into midtable.

But supporters are already fed up with the style of football on display at Goodison Park and Allardyce is under pressure to keep his job beyond the summer.

There was further controversy last time out when Wayne Rooney let his own frustrations boil over after being taken off in the Merseyside derby draw with Liverpool.

And the former England star looks set to be dropped for his poor performance in a central midfield role and petulance as Big Sam makes two changes to his side.

Wayne Rooney of Everton is substituted off during the Premier League match between Everton and Manchester City at Goodison Park on March 31, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Idrissa Gueye in for Wayne Rooney

Allardyce has made it clear to Rooney that star status does not guarantee him the role he craves at Goodison, as reported by The Mirror.

According to The Mirror, the pair had an informal chat this week following the explosive bust-up and Big Sam laid down the law to the 32-year-old warning him he is not undroppable.

And he is set to prove it for the trip to Swansea by bringing Idrissa Gueye back into the side in Rooney’s place to bring more energy to his midfield.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin in for Yannick Bolasie

It hasn’t happened for Yannick Bolasie at Everton with his first season wrecked by a serious long-term injury and his second failing to live up to expectations.

The winger was mocked by fans for his shocking miss against Manchester City recently and he was taken off after just an hour in the draw with Liverpool.

The man who replaced him, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, looks set to do so again this time from the start.

His pace and hold-up play will be crucial on the break as Allardyce knows Carlos Carvalhal’s Swans must go in search of a win to boost their survival chances.
