West Ham United take on relegation rivals Southampton in their biggest game for years this Saturday.

West Ham United are right in the thick of what promises to be a nailbiting Premier League relegation battle.

The Hammers are just two points and one place above the relegation zone with eight games remaining.

David Moyes looked to have turned things around in East London but three consecutive heavy defeats to Swansea, Liverpool and Burnley have seen the Hammers slip right down the league conceding 11 goals in the process.

West Ham face a massive relegation six-pointer against Southampton on Saturday.

The Hammers know a win will give them a five-point gap over the Saints but will also be all too aware that defeat will see them drop into the bottom three.

The 3-0 defeat last time out at the London Stadium saw fans invade the pitch to protest against the club’s owners in what was a toxic atmosphere.

And now Moyes looks set to ring the changes for the season-defining match against Mark Hughes’ side.

Declan Rice in for James Collins

Veteran defender James Collins is sorely needed right now. But he picked up yet another injury in the club’s friendly against Dagenham and Redbridge over the international break and looks set to miss the game. Young Declan Rice, who received rave reviews from all and sundry on his senior international debut for the Republic of Ireland at the weekend, looks set to come into the side.

Arthur Masuaku in for Manuel Lanzini

Key playmaker Manuel Lanzini is another doubt for the game after picking up an injury playing for Argentina over the international break. Arthur Masuaku is free to make his comeback after serving a six match ban for spitting and will give the Hammers pace they have sorely been lacking. Michail Antonio will move further forward to replace Lanzini while Masuaku slots in on the left.

Javier Hernandez in for Joao Mario

Mexico’s all-time leading goalscorer will come back into the team to spearhead the Hammers attack with Antonio and Marko Arnnautovic either side of him.
