Leeds United and Port Vale go head-to-head in the EFL Cup later this week.
Leeds United started their league campaign with a 3-2 victory against Bolton Wanderers and they now switch their attention to the EFL Cup.
It remains to be seen how new Whites manager Thomas Christiansen will treat this competition, but given the squad depth at Elland Road these days you can expect wholesale changes without Leeds putting out what would otherwise be termed a weakened side.
Summer signings Mateusz Klich, Caleb Ekuban, Samu Saiz and Vurnon Anita all started Sunday’s match on the bench, but the quartet will expect to start on Wednesday as they bid to prove their worth.
Fellow new addition Cameron Borthwick-Jackson may also start at left-back after the injury suffered by Gaetano Berardi last time out, while Anita should start on the opposite flank and youngster Conor Shaughnessy may well be drafted in with Leeds otherwise light at the back.
Skipper in waiting Pontus Jansson serves the second of his two-match suspension this week, meaning he will be back to play alongside either Liam Cooper or Matthee Pennington when the league action returns.
Rob Green should replace Felix Wiedwald in goal while Ronaldo Vieira could have the chance to prove he should be starting regularly, although he will now struggle to usurp Kalvin Phillips after the latter’s two-goal haul against Bolton.
