Brendan Rodgers has the chance to hold aloft his fourth trophy as Celtic manager on Sunday as the Hoops face Motherwell in the Betfred Cup final at Hampden Park.

Celtic have continued to assert their dominance this season, as they remain at the top of the Scottish Premiership table after completing the treble last season. They have even beaten the British record of unbeaten domestic matches.

They will be looking to stretch that unbeaten run to 65 on Sunday, two more than the previous record, but will have to deal with a physical, in-form Motherwell side that strolled past Old Firm rivals Rangers in the previous round.

Celtic manager Brendan Rogers lifts the trophy during the Betfred Cup Final between Aberdeen and Celtic at Hampden Park on November 27, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic will also come into the match with softened spirits, after being humiliated at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night by Paris Saint-Germain. Neymar and co. put on a show to win 7-1 win in the Champions League group stages.

Croatian defender Jozo Simunovic returned to the Celtic side on Wednesday night after two months out, and featured for 90 minutes against Unai Emery’s side and that could see him rested.

Sweden international Mikael Lustig was withdrawn after 20 minutes against PSG, but the Daily Record quoted Rodgers as saying that he and Nir Bitton will be assessed over the next 48 hours ahead of Sunday’s final.

Patrick Roberts only just made the bench on Wednesday night and he could also be rested, while Erik Sviatchenko and Anthony Ralston remain sidelined.

That should leave Rodgers with just two changes to make to the side that saw PSG ease to three points, with 28-year-old Scott Sinclair and the versatile Bitton being recalled after dropping to the bench during the week. Out go Tom Rogic ans Simunovic.
