Celtic play host to Martin Canning’s Hamilton side on Wednesday night in the Scottish Premiership as Brendan Rodgers looks to make it 69 matches unbeaten in Scotland since taking over at Lennoxtown.

Rodgers’ men are likely to be in desperate need for a rest as they prepare for their fourth game of December already, after playing Motherwell twice before facing Belgian champions Anderlecht in the Champions League.

The Hoops have continued their dominance in Scottish football this season by remaining at the top of the Premiership table, five points clear of bitter rivals Rangers in second place.

They have also lifted the Scottish League Cup, but Rodgers could be slightly concerned with the recent form of his side which has seen the Bhoys win just two of their last six outings.

The former Liverpool and Swansea City manager will be looking to put that right on Wednesday, as he is expected to make three changes to his side in order to keep things fresh and the midfield energised.

Olivier Ntcham played almost the entire 90 minutes against Hibernian and he is need of a rest, while Callum McGregor has started eight of Celtic’s last nine games and could do with a breather.

Stuart Armstrong of Celtic is brought down during the UEFA Champions League group B match between Celtic FC and RSC Anderlecht at Celtic Park on December 5, 2017 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Moussa Dembele has full recovered from injury and he is also expected to play some part, but it remains too soon for Patrick Roberts and Anthony Ralston who remain sidelined with long-term injuries.

That is likely to see Dembele, Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic come in for Odsonne Edouard, Ntcham and McGregor.
