Predicted Burnley starting XI v Leicester: Same again for Dyche?

Sean Dyche’s Burnley head to champions Leicester on Saturday.

Burnley have had a steady start to the Premier League season, picking up four points from four games, with their only win coming against Liverpool.

On Saturday they head to the home of the champions, Leicester, who are on the back of a historic Champions League win against Club Brugge.

Sean Dyche’s side currently sit in 15th place and are above their opponents on goal difference. Throughout his Burnley career, Dyche has been consistent with his team selection, but will he make any changes as they head to the King Power Stadium?

In goal will be Tom Heaton, who has started every game so far this season, conceding five times in the opening four games.

Dyche has also selected the same back four for every Premier League game and with no fresh injury concerns, should send out the same defensive line against Leicester, including Ben Mee, who starred against Hull last week.

Steven Defour has made a bright start to his career in claret, and will continue in the middle alongside Dean Marney. Belgian Defour scored Burnley’s only goal against the Tigers last week, an incredible strike from distance which nearly won his side all three points. There will be pressure on Marney to perform, with record signing Jeff Hendrick waiting in the wings to take his place.

Width will be supplied by ever-present George Boyd and summer signing Johan Berg Gudmundsson, who made his first start against Hull after signing from Charlton early in the transfer window. The Icelandic is much more of a natural winger compared to Scott Arfield, who he replaced in the team, and his crosses could be the ammunition that Burnley’s strikers need.

Dyche rarely changes his rigid 4-4-2 formation, no matter who the opposition is, and that shouldn’t change against Leicester, meaning that Andre Gray and Sam Vokes will lead the line. Both strikers have one goal to their name so far this season, with the pair scoring in the famous 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the opening home game of the season for Burnley.

It may look like a tricky task for Burnley at the home of the champions, but Leicester are not the same side they were last season, and a stubborn Clarets team could frustrate the Foxes and allow the Clarets to steal something from the game.
