Here is how we predict Aston Villa will line up against Middlesbrough later this week:

Villa manager Steve Bruce reacts after a near miss during the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Middlesbrough at Villa Park on September 12, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

Aston Villa welcome Middlesbrough to Villa Park on Tuesday evening as the two sides go head-to-head in the third round of the EFL Cup.

The Villans have had a poor start to the new campaign but recent signs suggest an upturn in fortune and form, with Steve Bruce’s men running out 3-0 winners against Barnsley on Saturday.

With no goals conceded in their last three matches, Villa are certainly getting something right, and if their forwards can maintain the form they showed against the Tykes then things will soon be looking up for the sleeping giant.

Villa have a relatively big squad at their disposal so there should be some changes for this fixture against a Boro side who are doing quite well under new boss Garry Monk.

One change for Villa is likely to be at right-back, with Alan Hutton potentially coming in for Ahmed Elmohamady.

Josh Onomah, Jed Steer and Chris Samba will also be hoping to return to the starting line-up, but much depends on how many changes Bruce wishes to make to a side that is building up a head of steam in the league.

After his outstanding performance last time out, summer signing John Terry looks set to be rested, while Keinan Davis may also be replaced with Scott Hogan as Bruce cannot risk burning out the youngster after recent comments regarding his fitness.

With all that in mind here is how we expect Villa to line up against Boro later this week:
