Here is how we predict Aston Villa and Barnsley will line up this week:

To be played on Tuesday 14th February 2017 at 19:45. Venue: Villa Park, Birmingham

Odds: Aston Villa 3/4, Draw 5/2, Barnsley 17/5

Aston Villa welcome Barnsley to Villa Park this week for their latest Championship clash.

Steve Bruce’s side are struggling, with defeats in their last three matches, and they cannot afford another setback against a Barnsley side that will not have given up of a play-off place of their own.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce

The Tykes are currently 10th in the table with 46 points from 31 matches while Villa are down in 16th, 10 points worse off than their next opponents.

Bruce was brought in to make an immediate positive impact at Villa Park, but despite his experience he has not been able to turn around the fortunes of this struggling giant, with the hangover from last season’s debacle lingering longer than many envisaged.

Paul Heckingbottom manager of Barnsley

Villa made some fine January additions and it is time they stepped up and proved they can not only steer the club away from the drop zone but also push for a play-off spot in what remains of an otherwise disappointing campaign.
