Aston Villa have three injury concerns ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s visit.

Steve Bruce manager of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Preston North End and Aston Villa at Deepdale on November 1, 2017 in Preston, England.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce could be forced to mix things up against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Bruce made only one change for Wednesday night’s win at Preston North End, which was forced upon him by Jonathan Kodjia’s unavailability.

However, as well as Kodjia – who has scored three goals in three games against Wednesday, for Bristol City and Aston Villa – Robert Snodgrass and Josh Onomah could also miss out at Villa Park, with respective groin and rib injuries.

Onomah’s place is likely to be seized by the returning Mile Jedinak, but replacing Snodgrass – linked, as well as Kodjia, with a move to Hillsborough in the past – may not be so straightforward.

With Andre Green still sidelined and Jack Grealish lacking match practice, Villa are short of natural wide options and could be forced to bring in an extra striker (Scott Hogan) to compensate, forcing Conor Hourihane into an awkward wide midfield role.

Alternatively, Bruce could push Ahmed Elmohamady into a five-man midfield, with full-backs Ritchie de Laet and Neil Taylor on stand-by, and leave Keinan Davis alone up front.
