Arsenal will return to St. Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday evening to take on Southampton again, this time in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Gunners will be looking to bounce back and pick up all three points from the league encounter tonight.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is likely to make a few changes to his team, including dropping Gabriel.

The Brazilian central defender – who joined Arsenal from Lille in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth €26 million (£23.10 million) – looked rusty at the weekend, and David Luiz could replace him.

Kieran Tierney is also likely to return to left-back and replace Cedric Soares in the team, while Thomas Partey could start.

The Ghana international defensive midfielder – described as a “very important” player for Arsenal by his teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the club’s official website in October 2020 – came on as a substitute in the FA Cup tie.

This is how Arsenal could line up against Southampton tonight:

Predicted Arsenal XI: Leno; Bellerin, Holding, Luiz, Tierney; Partey, Xhaka; Saka, Smith Rowe, Martinelli; Lacazette
