Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Monday evening when they take on Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners will head into the match against Newcastle at home on the back of a goalless draw with Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium in the league.
Arsenal won 2-0 against Newcastle at home in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend and will be confident of a victory over the Magpies again.
Gabriel is fit and available again, but David Luiz and Rob Holding are likely to retain their places in the starting lineup given their good performances in defence against Palace.
The Brazilian defender – who cost Arsenal €26 million (£23.11 million) in transfer fees when they signed him from Lille in the summer of 2020, as reported by BBC Sport – was an unused substitute against Palace, and the 23-year-old is likely to be disappointed again and could be left on the substitutes’ bench.
Thomas Partey came on as a substitute against Palace, and the Ghana international defensive midfielder could get the nod ahead of Daniel Ceballos against Newcastle.
The 27-year-old – described as “an enormous talent” by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on the club’s official website earlier this month – has had injury and fitness problems this season and has made only four starts in the league for the Gunners, according to WhoScored.
This is how Arsenal are likely to line up against Newcastle on Monday evening:
Predicted Arsenal XI: Bernd Leno; Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding, David Luiz, Bukayo Saka; Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka; Nicolas Pepe, Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang; Alexandre Lacazette
