Predicted Arsenal XI to play Norwich City – Diaby to start?

Arsene Wenger’s focus will be on this weekend’s game against Norwich City but he’ll also have a close eye on the FA Cup final against Hull.

With fourth place sewn up, Wenger could use this match to rest key players ahead of that game, which could mean some playing time for fringe players ahead of an important summer for the club.

Here’s the side Wenger could go with.

GK – Wojciech Szczesny

One of Arsenal’s most consistent players this season. If Wenger is planning to use Lukasz Fabianski for the FA Cup, Szczesny should get the nod for this game.

RB – Bacary Sagna

The Frenchman could be making his last appearance for the Gunners in the league this weekend. He’s an experienced and very solid defender.

CB – Per Mertesacker

The German will make it very difficult for Norwich to hit the Gunners over the top. He’ll try and create an imposing and intimidating presence.

CB – Laurent Koscielny

The Frenchman will be playing with the World Cup and FA Cup final in mind. However, he can’t take his eye off the ball with Norwich likely to want to go out of the Premier League with a bang.

LB – Nacho Monreal

Monreal has been in and out of the side all season but it’s important he can produce 90 minutes of solid football.

RM – Tomas Rosicky

Rosicky has done a solid job whenever he’s been called on by Wenger throughout the season. He controls the ball well all across the midfield.

DM – Mathieu Flamini

Flamini could be given the nod to dig in and protect the defence, moving the ball on quickly to more creative players when he does win possession.

CM – Abou Diaby

Wenger could use this game to hand Diaby his first start of the season. It would be a huge mental boost to the midfielder.

AM – Santi Cazorla

Cazorla has been an able deputy in the number ten role for the side, when Mesut Ozil has been rested or unavailable.

LM – Lukas Podolski

Podolski has been in good form from the left over recent weeks and he’ll want to keep that going looking forward to the World Cup.

ST – Yaya Sanogo

Sanogo has looked like a decent player when he’s been given a chance up front this season. He has plenty of pace and the physical ability to bully a defence.
